I’m super excited to announce that for a second year running, I am one of the ambassadors for Craftember. If you haven’t heard of Craftember before it is a fantastic initiative to get everyone crafting throughout the month of September. Crafting is fantastic for our mental health by encouraging mindfulness and can bring people together. Whether it’s pledging just 10 minutes a day, learning a new craft or challenging yourself to get better at an existing one, Craftember is for everyone. All you have to do is set a few minutes aside each day to craft and share it with us by tagging #craftember in your post. I'm so excited to see what you all get up to.
This month rather than set myself just one challenge, like I did last year with my postcard painting challenge I've decided to go with the flow and let my intuition guide me every day. The weather has been very cold and wet this month, so lots of the crafts I have done so far have involve being cosy inside, which is probably why I have been leaning towards sewing so much. I don't normally get a chance to get my sewing machine out, so it has been lovely to try my hand at small patchwork projects and playing with designing new blocks from my latest quilting cotton collection 'The Water Gardens.'
As well as sewing, which can often be quite a solitary craft, I've been taking the time to craft with my children. From friendship bracelet making with my daughter, to painting wooden ornaments, this initiative really is for all ages and abilities. So far I've had lots of fun both working on personal projects and crafting with the children. I'm really excited to see what the rest of the month brings.
